That's right, I'm (Joel) heading back to Kolkata, India next month. When arriving back to Australia in early June Sally finished out her training with the Birth Attendant School. As soon as her course was completed I (Joel) was involved straight away as a staff leader in the Bible School for the Notations. I have had a lot of opportunities to teach from God's Word to the students and see them gain confidence in their own Bible study and teaching. Next month I will be joining the team in Kolkata, India where we will be running a Bible Education and Leadership Training. This is a seminar which focuses on applying the truths of God's word to see transformation in peoples lives, communities and their nation.
2013 Projected Need
The graph above shows the estimated funds needed (Light Green) and the actual outreach funds that have already been received (Dark Green). The outreach phase for the Birth Attendant School (BAS) is 8 months long. Our family of five will be going to Zambia, Ethiopia and India. Sally will be assisting in the care of mother and child in the some of the poorest areas of these countries where inadequate hospitals are also under staffed. We will be in predominantly Muslim communities and as well as praying with mothers and babies, we will also have opportunity to impact the communities through evangelism and bible teaching. We want to thank those that have generously given toward this BAS outreach as it is our most expensive and faith building outreach since becoming full time staff with YWAM almost two years ago. If you would like to partner with us in what God is doing in these nations we need both prayer and financial support. To give you can click here or on the "Give" tab above. At least two out of the three locations that we will be going to on outreach do not have roads or paths where we can use a pram/stroller. Because of this we prayed about getting a second baby carrier (so we have one for Bethany and one for Hannah) and felt to make our need known. We can buy a second hand Ergo Performance Baby Carrier for about $100 in Australia. Thank you for your generosity. God has provided once again and someone has given us the $100 necessary to purchase a baby carrier. If you would like to partner with us financially as well as prayerfully you can click here and visit our giving page. Two weeks ago, as our family was heading down to visit my (Joel) Dad, our car struggled to go faster than 75km/hr (46m/hr). We are planning on selling our car in September to help pay for the outreach fees associated with the Birth Attendant School and so we were discussing how much we were willing to spend to get it fixed. The car is almost 25 years old.The next day I had a friend at YWAM Perth look at it and after just a small amount of time and money the car was easily fixed as it was only a clogged up air filter! God is good! Another 'God, save our car' moment: Last week I was reversing out of my carport and I felt the car run over something. I soon found out that I had run over my exhaust pipe! Yes, it had fallen off because of the amount of rust. Once again our car was not looking good, but we had someone help us out and do the work at half price to get a completely new exhaust/muffler and piping all for under $200. Praise God that we still have a car to drive and that it is once again in great shape (for its age) so that we can sell it in a few months. |
